Before talking about the differences between these two systems, we should know about the purposes of these two air conditioner systems?
Both air conditioner systems are designed for saving on electricity costs for users and for environmental conservation. Using a solar cell system to convert solar energy into electrical energy for air conditioners. Therefore, it allows users to pay less electricity bills and also play a part in environmental conservation.
Air conditioning system structure
ACDC Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning System
Air Conditioning System + Solar Inverter
– Solar Panel
Both systems need a solar panel to provide direct current (DC) power to the air conditioning system which type of solar panel can be chosen as preferred such as Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline.
– Indoor/Outdoor Unit
Air Conditioning System + Solar Inverter : is a combination use of common air conditioners in market such as Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Carrier with Solar Inverter. In common air conditioning systems, there is only 1 Power Input which is receiving AC power only.
ACDC Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning System : The exterior is similar to common air conditioners but the difference of its interior is there is a 2 channels of Power Input to receive electricity which are alternative current (AC) and direct current (DC). Additionally, this type of air conditioner does not require Solar Inverter.
– Solar Inverter (DC to AC converter)
Air Conditioning System + Solar Inverter : is a combination use of common air conditioners that receive only alternating current (AC) with solar panel that generates direct current (DC). In order to combine with air conditioning systems, a power adapter (Solar Inverter) is needed to convert direct current (DC) from solar panel into alternating current (AC). Yet the power conversion will cause a 10-15% loss of electrical energy in the system and this is a disadvantage of the air conditioning system + Solar Inverter.
ACDC Hybrid solar air conditioning system : able to transfer direct current (DC) electricity produced from solar panel and alternating current (AC) from the utility grid and directly connected to the air conditioner without using Solar Inverter. Thus advantages of this system is less wastage in the system and reducing electricity bill up to 90%
Air conditioning working system
Both systems have the same operation using solar energy, convert into direct current (DC) and supply to the air conditioner during the day with sunlight. Then it would use alternating current (AC) at night or without sunlight.
1) Day Time
When turning on the air conditioner, the direct current (DC) generated by solar panels will be supplied to an air conditioner first when there is sunlight. While in case of insufficient power, an air conditioner would use alternative current (AC) to balance the air conditioner to work at full efficiency.
2) Night Time
When turning on the air conditioner, alternative current (AC) will be supplied to the air conditioner which work similarly to general air conditioners. but if it was on or working until the morning or when there is sunlight, the system will automatically use solar energy.
Therefore, it can be concluded that both air conditioners are air conditioners that use a solar cell system. However, the difference is ACDC Hybrid Solar air conditioner does not require Solar Inverter, but Air Conditioner + Solar Inverter system requires a Solar Inverter.
